I don't boil my freezer jam. I smoosh up the fruit add the pectin, sugar and about 1/4 cup of water per cup of fruit mix it and toss it in the freezer.
You can also add a bit of plain gelatin to the mix.

should have said my recipe calls for both pectin and gelatin... and it still didn't set until i refrigerated it.
