I think I'd try the honey, since it's a little thicker than maple syrup and won't 'run' as much.

what are you using for the flavoring in the cookies? I've never heard of the flavoring it calls for!
I could use some butter cookies about now!
Maybe I should make some shortbread...not that I need any more sweets/carbs in the house! Yesterday, I made granola, 2 dozen whole wheat pumpkin walnut muffins, cornbread, and 2 loaves of whole wheat bread. I'm baked out!
