Re: Teaching French
Our local one day a week classes charge about $50 per month. However this is a highly organized endeavor with substitutes of the teacher is sick and a real classroom, homework etc.
If I were doing it in my home, I would charge less just because I'd want to adjust the schedule if needed and it wouldn't be quite as official. Like local colleges have heard of our one day school so they are familiar with it but they wouldn't be familiar with a home teacher.
That said, we paid a mom around $20 per semester, mostly for materials, to teach literature. And $60 per semester to teacher integrated physics and chemistry. She was motivated to keep costs low because she wanted students to take the class with her son. She would be teaching him anyway.
I think a happy medium between those 2 would be good.
I'd ask the other moms what they were willing to pay or else just observe what they may be paying elsewhere for classes.
I'm thinking $100-$125 per semester? But it might really depend on COL in your area.
