An update: DS1 decided he needed a Tardis cake for his 6th birthday (today, but we celebrated yesterday).

We had heaps of fun making it. It was my first foray into fondant icing. DS had fun watching me ice it and even snuck in an extra bit of icing, adding a second “pull to open” sign. Oh my, he was SO excited. He even covered his eyes to pretend it was a surprise when we did the whole birthday cake and candles thing. The cake inside was marbled as a representation of the time vortex. Too geeky?

Hehehe. I can’t wait for my own Whovian birthday next month.
