Just an update-- my dd is SO SO SO much better. She still has bad days/nights but in general she's coping and managing and it appears that the nighttime issues are more related to her sleep disorder which may or may not be related to the TMJ (the body is such an interconnected thing
). Our acupuncturist is going to begin focusing more on her sleep issues now that her neck and jaw are SO SO SO improved.
She has successfully been discharged from PT and continues to do the following as maintenance
*weekly acupuncture although as I said above more focused on sleep now
*daily stretches
*daily natural muscle relaxer 2 x's a day (good mood tonic)
*as needed arnica pills as well as ointment on her neck and back
*as needed moist heat
*oral magnesium
*daily exercise - walking or riding her bike - I worry the bike riding is hunching but getting her blood pumping REALLY REALLY seems to be a great thing for her.
PT worked but our dentist was right. She wasn't bad enough to need a night splint so that was a waste of time and money. I'm just grateful she's significantly better
updating for those looking for help with this problems and for myself for reminders if we get off track again
