Have you ever had piccalilly? (I'm not sure how to spell it. My dh's grandmother used to make it with the green tomatoes and can it. I just fry them, southern style.

Here's a recipe. Apparently, I'm spelling it wrong! It's Piccalilli. DH's grandma was Italian, so her version was a little different, but it's essentially pickled green tomatoes. Aaaah,
this one looks a little more like hers, but with more heat.
I'll bet they would make a nice chutney.
