We were often sent to sit on the stairs as punishment. I thought it was quite silly. As an INTJ and DYT type 4, I thrive when given a chance to be alone in my own head. And as I got older I just grabbed a book from my room.
There was rarely follow up from my parents (and if there was, it was just a lecture, not a conversation). Certainly nothing about the situation helped our relationship or taught me anything positive
I don't think I've heard of that book or author.
Sounds good though.
