1 lb of dried Northern beans
enough water to cover beans
1 large onion chopped fine.
3/4 cup Ketchup
1/2 cup BBQ sauce
1/2 cup molasses
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
1 tablespoon of salt(kosher)
1 tablespoon minced garlic(I used roasted)

Put beans in a strainer and pick out any which look darn, bad etc. Rinse them off. Put them in 8 quart pot and cover with water. Put in fridge or on counter to soak overnight or for 12 hours. When ready put the beans on the stove, if there isn't enough water add enough to cover them again. Bring beans to a boil and then back the heat off to low. Cook for 45-60 minutes or until the beans are somewhat tender.

Put beans and liquid into crock pot. Add everything else. Put on the lid and cook on high in the crock pot for 8-10 hours or until the beans are cooked and the liquid as thickened up.

More brown sugar and molasses can be added to taste.

Note: In my new crock pot they cooked way quicker. I had them on high for 2 hours and low for 3-4 and they were done. I caught them right before they started to burn.
