Yes, only source of heat. Our house is 3,000 sq ft and it's enough. We have wall heaters in all the bathrooms. Just this year we got space heaters for the bedrooms. They're not needed but they are nice. If we shut doors, the warm air obviously can't circulate. When all the kids were younger, we just kept the doors open. Not really an option anymore.
Getting firewood to last the winter is a major family activity every fall. We pay the kids because it is a lot of work.

I have to say that smart thermostats are amazing. Highly recommend. Dh installed one in our bathroom. It learns your schedule and warms up the bathroom. If we had a furnace, I'd get a smart thermostat for the house. They pay for themselves in reduced energy bills.
