Re: Droid battery life
Once I got the tweaks down, I could make my BlackBerry go more than 24 hours on a charge. My Android just isn't like that, unless the display is not on for the majority of that time.
Android devices use battery because of their big, beautiful displays. Also, closing or backing out of apps has a better chance of closing them than just hitting the home button.
Android Central is a great place to get some help with your phone, and it's fairly tame. XDA is also a great place to get some tweaks, but is more "technical" than Android Central. Either way, there are some great resources there to help your battery life.
Also, one of the things I've also learned is that it takes more for your power to run a white/light background. Live wallpapers are terrible for draining your battery.
Another thing you can do is to modify how often you receive notifications for things like email, tweets, Facebook, Google+ and even weather updates. Having them checked every hour or two hours saves battery over having your phone check every 10 minutes.
Rebooting your phone every couple of days can help clear your caches and kill processes as well. Much harder to remember to do that on an Android, but worth it.
I keep my wifi on all the time, because I use it exclusively at home. DH cannot hook in at work so he has an app on his phone that schedules tasks for him. At the time he normally arrives at work it turns off his wifi and sets his phone to silent. You could also put a toggle button on your homescreen to toggle your wifi without having to go into your notification bar.
