Cookbook for kids
Any recommendations? 8 year old boy, excellent reader. No food allergies or restrictions. I was looking at the America's test kitchen kids' book but it may be too advanced in the cooking level. He does have some experience but isn't exactly an independent chef yet.

Re: Cookbook for kids
This isn't written as a kids cook book but as a young adult one but it had wonderful step by step directions. It is written for people who are living on there own for the first time and have neaver cooked. So it isn't 'kid' food but has super simple instructions.

I love the Cooking Class/Baking Class series. We've had several others through the years that were all awful, but everything they have tried from these have been good. The books also have great information on kitchen safety etc. My kids love just reading through them too.

Re: Cookbook for kids
My son loves the plain old Betty Crocker cookbook.
He's 10, but has been using it independently for years. Don't get the one in the 3 ring binder, though, as the pages rip out easily. |

I love the healthy college cookbook. Includes simple, cheap, delicious food.

Re: Cookbook for kids
We had the Better Homes and Gardens Junior Cookbook and it was fantastic. I see there's a new edition of it out now.
Also, Matthew Locricchio has a series of International cookbooks that are wonderful - well-written, authentic recipes. I've cooked through most of them with my kids, but we got them from the library. For that matter, you might want to check your library. Mine has an astounding array of cookbooks in the kids' section. You could try out several and it should help to narrow your choices. I bought the cookbook Knitlove linked to for my brother when he graduated from college and it's a great choice, too. It has loads of recipes (most kids' books have far fewer than regular cookbooks.) |

(Admittedly, I am a bit of a cookbook fiend; I read them to unwind. You don't want to know how many shelves of cookbooks live here . . . . :no :no :no) |
