Facebook restricted list.. how does that work?
 

If you block someone from a post, and a mutual friend replies to it, can the blocked person then see it?

yes I think so because I have had restricted people message me asking why they could not see my page. I was not rude enough to tell because you cant see a post of mine you disagree with and keep on going. I do not care for snarky replies to my posts.:giggle

I have never to my knowledge had someone on one of my lists I hide a post from ever see it, but they may have not responded. I do not have a way to test this though. I had one IRL friend who told me she was very offended at my non spanking posts so she got put on a list and so far she has not seen any I have posted since she got added to the list of people who cant respect my opinion on my facebook.

We can totally do this, we are all 3 friends. I am going to post something and block Janice. Leslie will comment and we'll see if Janice can see.

Ok, I posted something to my GCM list and blocked Janice from seeing it. This is so that Janice will know for sure exactly what happens. :heart For the record, this is what the post says,

Will you do another experiment where Janice isn't blocked, just put in a restricted list? I don't know if restricted lists work the same as blocking.

It should work the same, but I see your concern. I'll put you on my Acquaintances list and block them from that post. Can you see the post now?

Clarification: make a list that includes all your fb friends except Janice and call is "everyone but Janice" and post something set to that list only. Does that make sense?

I approved you but can't see the post. I have 4, including you, gcms on fb right now, so no mutual friends may have posted yet.

The Acquaintances list is one provided by FB and a way to show less to people. I don't know why you were on it. :shrug3 Probably a mistake.

I rarely use it. Maybe just when I think I might be oversharing, like giving my location. :think I don't want to give out too much info to everyone. :O I really should have everyone I don't know really well on it, but I'm too lazy. :O
