It's Been 4 Months and I'm Not Missing Meat AT ALL!

So I've been vegetarian for 4 months now, and I seriously do not miss meat at all. :rockon The first month, I had salmon a few times, and tuna once (once at someone else's house and I couldn't find it in me to tell them I had become vegetarian, and the salmon was both at Christmas parties.) I can't say I feel loads different yet, although I've lost a bit of weight. But I plan to ease into veganism, and I really believe that when I give up dairy that is when I'm going to feel the most change. :yes Dairy has always been my weakness (cheese, ice cream, Starbucks :O ) but occasionally when I'm eating cheddar cheese it tastes like raw cow to me and I think "This came out of an animal's body" and I feel sick. :sick Anyhow, I suspect I have dairy intolerance and I cannot wait to give it up. I just have to set my foot down and do it. I really thought I was going to miss eating meat (to be honest, I originally didn't think my decision to go vegetarian would last :blush ), but I can honestly say that I haven't craved or even wanted meat after giving it up.
So here's to giving up meat! :danced (I thought we had a wine glass avatar but couldn't find it so this will have to do instead! :P~ )

ITU the dairy attachment. I swing back and forth from veggie to vegan because of ice cream and pizza. Soy substitutes just don't do it for me, and I'm not out a point where the *idea* of animal products grosses me out, so :shrug I keep plugging away and hoping something will give me the impetus to really quit.

Yay way to go. I've been vegi since Nov and I'm not missing meat at all either.
I'm loving all the new meals to experiment with. My friends and family still seem to think I'm "doing a vegetarian thing" right now. :/ and don't seem to understand I'm sticking with this one. But oh well.

Cheese is hard for me to give up...well...it WAS hard for me to give up. As mentioned in another post...I cut dairy out while doing a cleanse and when I finally tried it yesterday my digestive system felt SO yucky after that I am not going to bother eating it anymore. :sick Something I've found is rice cheese, which at regular temp doesn't taste quite like cheese...but it tastes like a pretty decent substitute when melted in an omelette or grated over a yummy bean dish and put in the oven. :yum So it's not going to be as hard for me to give up cheese anymore. :rockon

:yes :yes :yes :yes WTG!! I'm 3 weeks into being a Vegetarian myself and it feels AWESOME!! I thought I would miss meat, but I'm really disgusted by it instead!!

I've not drank any cows milk, but I do like my ice cream here and there (but the container is now gone)... Cheese I've only had on pizzas, but we make our own and I use very little, but it's STILL from an animal :(. One step at a time. I'm hoping to become vegan (or at least pure vegetarian) within a year...

What is a "pure vegetarian"? I have so many terms going around in my head, and it's been hard for me to explain to other people when they ask what I call myself. :O I don't eat any meat or fish and I am now eating very little dairy. But I'm on the fence about going vegan because I'm not feeling convicted to give up honey :shifty ...even after watching the Bee Movie. ;)

Sorry!! Pure vegetarian is just like a Vegan- a dietary Vegan- no meat (obviously :D ) and no dairy or eggs. Reading about Vegans scares me (LOL) I'm not sure I have the time and/or energy to research all the products I use to verify they don't test on animals... I guess I need to just take my baby-steps and pat myself on the back with what I have done!! ;) I rarely eat cheese at this point and drink only soy milk, but I don't do well when offered things (like at work) and find myself eating things with egss/milk in them (like baked goods).

Funny you mentioned honey- I LOOOOVE honey (ohh and milk chocolate) so those would be hard to give up if I became Vegan (like harder than cheese). I need to realize all the GOOD things I could have when I become Vegan. Vegan is my goal, but since I'm so new as a vegetarian (3 weeks new) I'm not rushing myself at all!!

Thanks for the explanation! :grin And I am also taking things little by little. It's a huge learning curve to have to think of new things to eat at every meal, so sometimes I think it makes it easier to cut things out slowly. :yes
