would you leave your child to go on the Amazing Race; how old would he have tobe

Our DS is too young for us to consider applying now, (not that they'd pick us anyway)
but when he gets older i'd love to go. being gone for 30 days is a long time though. we're very ap and didn't leave him with MIL/FIL for dinner until he was comfortable with them
i think by the time he was old enough we'd want to have another baby so i don't know that it would happen.

Dh and I have talked about this. We've both traveled extensively internationally and would LOVE to apply for The Amazing Race.

But, between the fact that you cannot tell anyone where you are going, and the fact that its 30 days, I don't think there IS a time I would live my minor children for those circumstances. I just could NOT be out of communication with my children for a month and not able to tell them WHY.

I agree with the above.

I didn't realize that you weren't even allowed to tell your own children that you were going to be on TAR. I was going to answer that I would be ok with it as soon as my dc were old enough to understand where we were going and to give their blessing. But if that's not an option, then they would have to be grown up for sure. Somehow I don't think TAR will still be around by then....
