In your experience...alt cell carriers
I'm moving to a rural area that only AT&T towers reaches. It is a job requirement to be available by cell.
I can't really afford to mess around with carriers. Is it too risky to try an alt carrier that uses AT&T's towers? Or should I try? Is coverage any differrent? |
Re: In your experience...alt cell carriers
If it's a job requirement, I wouldn't risk it.

I wouldn't hesitate to assuming you can get some recommendations. Look at companies that use the towers and then start asking around if anyone uses the specific company.
We use an alternate company that uses Sprint towers and have been 100% happy. |
Re: In your experience...alt cell carriers
I've wondered about this, too. Verizon is the only reliable network in my area. I don't want to be stranded on a mountain road and have no signal.

Re: In your experience...alt cell carriers
Which alt carriers use AT and T towers?

Re: In your experience...alt cell carriers
most alternate carriers are month to month /no contract, it can't hurt to look at trying them. We are with an alternative AT&T company, very happy. I habe never been anywhere country or city that I don't have service.

Which do you use? FWIW, for many years, I used Puppy Wireless which runs on Verizon towers. Like you, I never didn't have coverage while a Verizon phone did. (Although I *did* go places that Verizon didn't touch either.) |
Re: In your experience...alt cell carriers
If you would always be driving into a more populated area, could you have your employer accept landline OR cell availability? If you received a message that didn't come through until you got there, you wouldn't want to answer while driving anyway and wouldn't be getting into town any sooner for having received the call.

Re: In your experience...alt cell carriers
We’ve had an AT&T MVNO ( cricket) for years and have rarely lost coverage unless in the middle of nowhere.

Re: In your experience...alt cell carriers
Red Rocket and Net 10 each operate from all 4 towers! That seems like a pretty safe bet.

Re: In your experience...alt cell carriers
We do Cricket as well, and have been happy with it.

Re: In your experience...alt cell carriers
We have cricket too. It's been great.

Re: In your experience...alt cell carriers
Hubby just switched to xfinity mobile.
It's 2 bucks a month for unlimited talk and text. $12 a month per G for data or $45 a month for unlimited data. We're on the $2 a month plan as wi fi is free all over through xfinity. Good for city people. probably not good for country folk ;) |
