"healthy" birthday cake

I made this recipe for DS's first bday. It was a BIG hit with everyone and I felt good that there are no refined sugars or white flour in there. :) Very dense and yummy!

I didn't have enough honey so I used some date syrup. Also I didn't have the pineapple so I used applesauce. Used coconut oil for the oil.

I haven't been able to find any healthy frosting I like. Glaze, yes, but frosting not so much. So I used regular cream cheese frosting to top.

Just wanted to come back and say thank you for this recommendation! I made it today for my ds' 4th birthday with our extended family, some of whom are HARSH critics when I've made sugar free desserts in the past, and it was a HIT! I didn't mention that it had no sugar until after it was partly eaten and raved about. :giggle
