Peach butter round two and a question
So after burning my first batch of peach butter I went to the farmer's market to buy more peaches. I'm determined not to burn this batch because I want to give a little 1/2 pint as teacher gifts this year. Wish me luck. :wink
I also wanted to buy some tomatoes to make the spaghetti sauce we've been talking about... but the only farmer at the market with tomatoes wanted $43 form 25 lbs. :jawdrop And they weren't even home grown tomatoes... he buys them from a produce supplier and then sells them at the farmers market. :/ (is that normal?) So I put in a request with the gal that owns the peach orchards for some tomatoes and she said she could probably get them from another local farmer for $12-15 but she wasn't sure. Anyone have any clue what a fair price for homegrown tomatoes is?? If this gal can get them for me for a fair price it would be great... if not... September is a good time to plant tomatoes in Texas. :yes I have never been successful at gardening but I'm willing to give it another try. |
Re: Peach butter round two and a question
I woke up this morning and my peach butter is PERFECT!! Yay! :danced (I cooked it in the crockpot overnight)
Kelly... I decided since it was a small batch I'd sweeten it with honey like you suggested :yum and I added a bunch of cinnamon. It's so good it may not make it to jars. :grin I still have a bunch of peaches to do... I'm just waiting for them to ripen up a bit. :mrgreen |
Re: Peach butter round two and a question
Danette,
I'm so glad the peach butter turned out. :) $15 or so for that many homegrown tomatoes sounds like a pretty good deal. Blessings, Kelly |
