I don't think more cal/mag will fix it.
I have been having trouble with my legs at night. I thought it was not enough cal/mag but I took a lot tonight and my legs woke me up after about 20 minutes of sleep. I started to think it was in my head but after tonight, I know it's not. The only way I can describe it is like I'm flexing little tiny muscles all up my legs. I am sitting up to sleep with a bean bag under my knees. And my legs are in somewhat uncomfortable positions during the day (when I'm rocking my baby). So what's going on? I just took a few sips of wine hoping that would help. And The rest of my body sometimes feels that to a smaller degree (like tonight). I'm so tired and I need sleep but I can't stop focusing on my legs.

Quinine is supposed to help with restless legs, but you have to have a prescription for it here.
I find that it's worse when I'm pregnant and when I'm too hot - my feet/legs in particular. If nothing else helps, and it impairs your life (ie can't sleep at all) I know that here in the UK the drs prescribe Diazepan or another muscle relaxant in severe cases. |
Re: I don't think more cal/mag will fix it.
Could it be a lack of nutrients? I'm off of a bunch of food and I have a problem with not eating enough.

I'm feeling it again and I had cal/mag, some extra vit. B, and a good meal. Help me here!

Re: I don't think more cal/mag will fix it.
try some chamomile tea? Chamomile is a muscle relaxant.

I'll try that tomorrow night. But why is this happening?

---------- Post added at 04:51 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:43 AM ---------- I just googled and iron deficiency came up a lot. That would make sense too. I just took some floridex and ate another banana. I need to sleep. This is driving me crazy! It looks like alcohol can increase symptoms. :doh I drink very very little but I drank 3 sips just to relax me so I wouldn't obsess. Grrrr! I hate this! |
Re: I don't think more cal/mag will fix it.
:hugheartI have had this same thing for many years now. It is over the top annoying and keeps me from sleeping. I tried the calmag and a homeopathic remedy and neither worked. It seems to be worse during certain parts of the month although it's been awhile since I kept track. I think maybe the second half. It's also worse after extra exercise even extra walking. The only thing I've found that helps it is to have dh rub the backs of my legs really hard and then I can go to sleep.
:popcorn for more ideas. |

IF it is a potassium deficiency, try 1 1/2 tsp cream of tartar dissolved in a cup of water or juice. It is very high in potassium.

:think Only read the OP so forgive me if I missed anything, but what immediately comes to mind is iron, potassium, and B12. Does it have anything to do with your cycle?

Re: I don't think more cal/mag will fix it.
Mine is SO BAD right now, too. It was better after an ENORMOUS mug of cal/mag last night and I bought more bananasd yesterday.
I know it sounds silly, and I realized mine is missing after I changed the sheets, I'm gonna go fix it right now! But, have you tried a bar of plain ivory soap under your sheet, down near your feet? I *swear* that helps. |

I'll bulk up on those other things though. Ivory soap? I don't think I have any. What is in it that helps do you think? |
