i feel sad and numb. that baby finally has a good home now, safe in the arms of Jesus

kathy, are there any proven ezzo deaths yet?

if you beat a child with a rod, he may die.

i can't type more, crying and naking, but please keep talking, ladies. i have no one irl to cry with me, dh isn't home yet. of course anyone would say this is a tragedy but most would say the pearls have no blame and i couldn't stand to hear that.

:pray

I'm praying about posting that to my homeschool group. We usually don't discuss this kind of thing, so it would stand out. But there are some Pearl mothers there and I wonder if I should post it anyway. :scratch

Oh my God......... :sick2 :cry I feel physically ill reading this. That beautiful little one....... :bheart WHERE is the sense, the pulling in the parent's heart that THIS IS NOT RIGHT!!!!!???????? I know- they are deceived. They believe that this is the "godly" way.

This makes me angry and sick and so sad. :mad :hissyfit

As the PP said, PTL that he is safe in the arms of Jesus now.

Re: Death linked to Pearls' advice--sensitive

I am struck by the fact that this is an *adoptive* family also. My brother and I were severely "disciplined" (hit) by my stepmother who adopted us because she was "afraid" of having out-of-control kids... This is why it is so important that adoptive families in particular focus on *attachment* and non-corporal parenting strategies. I think here at GCM and the adoptive parents I know IRL do an awesome job doing that. :tu It just occurs to me that this boy was particularly at-risk and after reading other news stories I am upset that the abuse (which was reported previously) was not enough to get the child removed and the adoption stopped. There *were* red flags, but the mother basically lied and had other children lie as well. :/ As part of the adoption process for me & my brother, we were also visited by Wake County social workers, and we were "encouraged" by our stepmom not to mention the whippings, which we did not and they didn't probe about that I recall either. Some things never change I guess. :sad2
