OK, my eyes hurt after today. um....????
I'm a little freaked out! I bought NASA approved glasses from a NASA approved vendor. They had all of the appropriate certifications stamped on them.
We went outside, and we put the glasses on while looking down. When we looked up at the eclipse, I would count to 3 and look away. I put my fingers around the glasses to block out any additional light from coming in. I did a "3-count-look" about 10-15 times over the course of an hour. We weren't in the path of totality, so we never looked up without the glasses on. Now my eyes feel gritty, like I want to close them. One eye definitely feels worse than the other. Anybody know what in the world is going on???? My kids feel fine. They were looking along with me. |

Re: OK, my eyes hurt after today. um....????
I just heard a news story which said that it would take days for damage to manifest. One would notice changed in vision. Nothing was said about pain. If you are concerned, you would need an ophthalmologist.

Re: OK, my eyes hurt after today. um....????
If it makes you feel any better, during the 1999 eclipse in Europe I looked up :doh and my vision was whitish for 3 days after. Scared me silly. Then it went away.
I hope whatever is going on with you sorts itself out. |
Re: OK, my eyes hurt after today. um....????
The news story said that the concern was damage to the retina. It sounds to me (who knows nothing in particular regarding the subject) that you might have irritated some other part of the eye.

How are they now?

Re: OK, my eyes hurt after today. um....????
Thanks so much y'all!! :heart This morning they feel the same. "Hurt" is too strong of a word, but they might be "injured." I still don't know.
My eyes feel about the same. Sort of an "awareness" of my right eye, like it feels air and/or wind. They both feel slightly gritty, though worse in the right eye. I was hoping that sleep would help, but they still feel pretty much the same. I'm noticing that I can't be on the computer very long before they really don't want to focus, however, that is not really new. My eyes *do not* like blue light. But, I'm normally able to stay on the computer, but my eyes get fuzzy after a while. Now, that's happening faster. (And I'm wearing my blue light blocker glasses with the screen pretty dimmed.) I'll see if I can get in with the eye doc soon. I know it won't be today. This week is *insane.* The only thing that is keeping me even remotely calm is that: 1) I'm not supposed to feel any actual damage 2) I really did everything "right," so I should not have lasting damage |
Re: OK, my eyes hurt after today. um....????
I got eye strain or something for sure. A bit fuzzy the white thing Lisa explainedplus a migraine. I attributed it to my visual issues as I also did everything right. The migraine is gone today but my eyes water and feel dry/maybe gritty.
I also have blue light issues and blue light blocking glasses am struggling w all screens today. But I no longer have the fuzziness just a tired/gritty feeling like u described as gritty. Can u run your machine w frequencies that's similar to FSM? I get FSM today and will decide what to do tomorrow if FSM doesn't fix the remainder of the symptoms. I also am really exhausted after the eclipse. It was exhilarating physically and spiritually. |
Re: OK, my eyes hurt after today. um....????
It sounds like the eclipse aggravated an underlying issue. I never so much as glanced at the sun, I treated it as always. I did get hit with its reflection a few things, also usual. I enjoyed shadows and pin holes. My eyes also felt a bit odd, not as bad as you described, just off. I also have some underlying issue, but it's very mild and they didn't refer me to a specialist.
Would eye drops help? I used to put coconut oil on my eyes. That is risky because of the chance of introducing bacteria, but if you are super careful it's very soothing. Breastmilk is the best, if you have access to any. Again, risk of introducing bacteria. The eye dropper has to be washed every time, maybe sterilized, because it's easy to touch it to your eye and not notice. Sent by means of Tapatalk |

Don't worry! It's likely eyestrain and not eye damage.

That gritty sensation symptom is what someone experiences that looks at a welding torch flame w/o roper eye protection. I would call someone right away to at least ask. My younger dd looke for about half a second with glasses yesterday and her eyes felt strained and then she experienced that sand in eyes feeling later. Her eyes are fine today. Itis called a flash burn http://www.nevdgp.org.au/info/rural/flash_burns.htm This link will tell you what to do to help them heal and thankfully it says it is a self healing thing usually but would def take these measures

A gritty feeling would make me think something in.your eye or an infection.
