Stomach ache from eating sunflower seeds
 

I haven't had more than a tiny sprinkle of sunflower seeds in years as I'd not found any that tasted all that good. Well... came across a brand of sunflower seeds in shells a couple of weeks ago....

And I've had them a few times... but twice now I've gotten engrossed in watching an episode of something on tv and sat there mindlessly eating sunflower seeds the entire hour.... I didn't learn the first time from a stomach ache...

Now... its the second time and it hurts a lot more.... almost like the worst version of eating too many raw carrots. I don't feel like it will make me sick (its been about 2 hours now since I ate them), but its unpleasant.

Is there anything a non-herbal person like me could do to make it feel better quicker? (Its nearly 7pm, shops are closed, I don't have a car and my husband is away on a business trip so it needs to be something I already have.... and tomorrow is grocery day!! D'OH!)

Or is this a stick it out thing.

I looked it up online and was surprised to read this is a common sort of allergy symptom... could that be it? Or more likely because I ate them midlessly for an hour. LOL

actually i'm not sure, could it be the salt content? Perhaps drinking some water will help :hugheart

I like everything about sunflowers. :lol Except the stomach ache.

I miss sitting mindelessly watching tv and eating sunflower seeds for an hour.. :sigh


It could be that you just ate too many and your stomach wasn't used to it. Happens to me sometimes.. I could live on sunflower seeds if I were allowed to.

When I drop off my son at nursery school I practically sprint home so I can fit in an hour of watching tv without interruptions.

It may be the fat content, or actual physical pain from the seeds being somewhat like gravel in your belly. How well do you chew? My daughter pretty much swallows seeds whole, and they don't digest without significant chewing.

Well..... I do eat faster than the rest of my family... so it is quite possible I don't chew enough!

Seeds are hard to digest, especially if they're roasted. hope you're feeling better!

(also, that kind of reaction to seeds can be a sign of gi inflammation)

I am feeling back to normal this morning. I might give up these new sunflower seeds.

I only eat David sunflower seeds. I refuse to buy any other brand.
