Beginning Readers like Dick and Jane books?

I found this amazing collection of Dick and Jane stories at Costco a few weeks ago. Dd3 (6) loooves them. The pictures look grown up (to her) and the volume is separated into Real Chapters. :dance We made a dictionary for a few sight words she kept forgetting (and struggled to sound out) and she has sat with that book any chance she has gotten and has read through it at least 4 times. :heart

She is begging for more. The BOB books are too little kiddish :giggle but Dr. Suess has too many sounds and she gets overwhelmed. She seems to do best with stories that slowly add new words.

Any ideas? The collection has most of the Dick and Jane stories.

I am doing Spell to Write and Read with my kids this year. I love it. Love it. Love it.

It has recommendation got older primers and easy readers. I imagine you can get this book from the library and then look at their list.

The Elson Readers are similar. There are reprints available now on Amazon, but originals are still out there. I've seen some free on Kindle. Not sure how the formatting is, though. Reading Lessons Through Literature includes the text of all the readers after the word lists.

I think there is a more modern version too

I loved Betsy books when I was a kid but you would have to read them to her now it sounds like https://www.goodreads.com/series/82139-betsy

My DD loved these books when she was becoming a reader. I don't know if they have any compiled into one volume though.

Pathway Readers. They are Amish or maybe Mennonite, but be careful with the later ones as there are suggestions of corporal punishment. But they are along the lines of Dick and Jane.

Open Court readers, out of print, but very enjoyable.

In the past you could print them up free from online.

Nora Gaydos readers are also phonics based, but I think more enjoyable than Bob books. It looks like they are now out of print, though, that’s a shame.

MCP phonics readers are similar and also a little more fun than Bob.

You may want to look at the Easy Peasy Learn to Readbook at Amazon. It is old school style

I really like SRA's Basic Reading Series readers - they are mostly phonetic (with a few sight words), with really cute pictures. I wouldn't buy them new (they suffer from educational pricing :shifty), but I've mostly been able to get them used on Amazon/Abebooks/etc for decent prices (except for Level A, part 2 - that one is just pricey it seems). There are six levels (A-F) and seven books (Level A is broken into two parts):
Level A: A Pig Can Jig, Part 1 (short A words) and Part 2 (short I words)
Level B: A Hen in a Fox's Den (CVC words)
Level C: Six Ducks in a Pond (consonant blends)
Level D: A King on a Swing (consonant digraphs)
Level E: Kittens and Children (vowel digraphs and long vowels)
Level F: The Purple Turtle (alternate vowel sounds)
