"Weaning Balls" recipe needed. . .anyone?

A few years ago, I got a recipe from a mom for "weaning balls." She didn't really have a name for what she had made, but she made them for her daughter's weaning party, hence the name "Weaning Balls." I saw dates the other day, and thought about that recipe, (b/c it has dates in it), so I bought them. Now I can't find the recipe. :hissyfit :banghead :cry :hissyfit

It's been quite a while since I made them. I know I found that recipe at least 3-4 years ago, if not longer. Has anyone heard of them? I remember dates, cocoa, and almonds. There were two other ingredients. I think you put everything in the food processor and whirled. Maybe you rolled it in cocoa, after "processing" the other four ingredients. :hissyfit I can't believe I don't have the recipe anymore. :(

I don't know, but I bet if you add some coconut to the mix it would be yummy! :yum

:O i eagerly opened the thread in hopes to find a recipe for something tantalizing to give to my 3.5 yo when he wants to nurse.

This it?
Dirt Balls
1 c almonds
1 c pitted dates
1/3 c raisins
3 Tbsp cocoa powder
1 Tbsp vanilla

Grind almonds in a food processor. Add remaining ingerdients and pulse until mixed. Form into balls (best if slightly chilled before forming).

Oooh. . . THAT'S IT! :jump2 :ty :ty :ty :jump :jump :jump

So, JessicaTX, you have to tell me where you found/had this. I ask because we used to call them "Dirt Balls" because that's what they looked like, and we weren't weaning when I made them. ;) So I'm very curious.

OK, we are making some as soon as I lay this sleeping babe down. (He just fell asleep nursing. :bfsmiley)

Hey, Mollie. .. you could give him these instead of letting him nurse. They're wonderfully good and nutritious! You use real cocoa powder, so they're not even high in (refined) sugar. No need for a paper bag on your head. . .he's 3 1/2. . . it's okay, IMO, to offer nutritious treats! ;)

Update:

They have been made and are all gone! Yesterday, I think they ate five each at lunch alone! I'm glad I have more dates! :mrgreen
