crayon in the dryer

Last night, I went to take the laundry out of the dryer and found rainbow-colored marks over all of our clothes. I'm assuming one of the kids had crayons in their pocket and I didn't realize it before washing.

Is there anything I can do? It's a super capacity dryer and I had both a load of clothes in there and all of our diaper laundry. :sigh

I have had luck with Lestoil or GooGone to get a little bit of crayon out. One of those products will work to get the crayon off the inside of your dryer so it doesn't spread to your next load of laundry.

Here are some more ideas (towards the bottom the page I linked). Several sites recommend using WD-40 on a paper towel to wipe your dryer drum clean. Both Lestoil and GooGone are petroleum based cleaners, so I think that's why they worked for me to dissolve the crayon.

Re: crayon in the dryer

Just on a whim and a prayer, I soaked part of the load this morning in HOT water with Borax, OxyClean, Felnaptha, some Ecos laundry detergent, and a bit of GreenWorks dish soap. So far, it looks like the crayon may have come out. :nails I haven't been able to really get into the clothes good and examine since I still have crayon all in the dryer, and no wd40 here. Fingers crossed that they came clean.

Now, I have to tackle the diaper laundry. The really bad part about that is that most of the diapers in there were ones I had borrowed from my SIL and she will be :mad if I can't get it out. I'm probably just going to have to buy the diapers from her. :(
