photo organizing sofware that renames automatically?
 

I'm so frustrated with my pictures! I just have them in file explorer. I dump them into folders by year but no matter how I try to organize them (even by date) it doesn't work and I can't see pictures in order. It doesn't even know the right dates they were taken (for example it will say a picture was taken before someone who is in it was born). Or other dates that I just know are wrong. We take pictures on several different devices and I want a program that can automatically figure that out and rename my photos. I found a good renaming method I want to use. It is that each picture gets renamed YYYY-MM-DD-#photo it was plus the people in it, so for example 2018-01-09-5-dd1-ds2-dd3 (it's okay if it asks me who is in it and I have to tell it for each picture). Or even if I can just get the dates. But categories would be awesome (Christmas, vacation, etc) even if I have to click on them for each picture. Oh, and then it has to save it as a jpg so I can open it on any program, not just on their software.

Does anyone have software for a computer that does that? (we have a PC, not a Mac).

I'm in love with Google photos. It does pretty much everything for you. It even has AI which can be a little creepy, but is helpful. It has unlimited free storage. The only drawback is how big and scary Google is.

Google Picasa does that. It's no no longer downloadable on Google but probably on a secondary site. I'd ask your tech hubby for reputable sites. And then report back so I can download it again on my other computer. ;)

I just noticed the renaming. Google photos does not rename files, it just groups them and it's easy to make albums for them and organize.
