This saddenes me to think how many parents are going to do this and more scarey how many will do it out of anger. Disturbing.

Ouch! Those things look like they hurt. Can you imagine what a child must feel like when his/her parents hit him/her with a BOARD? It is just so sad.

did you read his FAQs? one was "why do you advocate violence?" he answers by defining violence and then saying he doesn't advocate violence.

Okay, IF YOU CAUSE SOMEONE PHYSICAL PAIN IT IS VIOLENCE. :doh :doh :banghead :banghead I don't care what the "outcome" is or what your "guidelines" or heart attitude are....causing another person to experience physical (or emotional!) pain is violence...it is abuse.

I know that got me how are you going to expect your kids to fill out a form to get spanked I realy don't understand the logic of it. I was spanked with paddles as a child and I would not have filled out a sheet I would have just been more sneaky to make sure I got by with it. I guess some people don't understand how harmful that is. It should be illegal to have a website like that.

oh and those testimonials? i have no idea why i read them. i was physically ill from it. those people can't be serious :sick :mad. i mean, they are physically thrashing teenagers and pre-teens with that big ol' wooden plank! UGH :bheart

Actually, I agree. But a single swat is not necessary. Get off your butt and make your words mean something, rather than threatening a thousand times.

*nods* Since we stopped spanking, I've been able to see how--even though I dearly loved my children and was motivated by that love, however misguided--spanking was NEVER respectful.

My father got angry with me when I was 16 years old. Got out the saw and plywood and cut a paddle pretty close to that shape. Then he drilled holes in it, made me sand so I wouldn't get a splinter and proceeded to beat me with it. The entire process was long. He had plenty of time to think and know what he was doing. It hurt me so bad to sit at school the next several days. I was completely black and blue with nice circles from the holes. Told me I needed an attitude ajustment. It was the beginning of my rebellion. It pushed me over the edge. After that, I really felt, what more could they do to me? It's a passive aggressive nightmare. They make you connect love with punishment.

He still will tell you he did it because he loved me. It's so hard for me to grasp this idea even to this day.

Okay, I am crying at the little girl who had no voice or opinion back then. Thank goodness I have a husband that does not believe in spanking. Maybe that's how people did it years ago, but now we know better.

And the boy in the picture....yeah, that's how I would have looked to...."please don't make me stand here with you".

So sad indeed.
