Ideas for a college student to live cheaply.
Besides dorm living, apartment sharing, or at home. What are other options for a college student?
Rent a room from a family? |

Trade room and board for childcare or housekeeping/meals for someone who needs help with that?

Live with an elderly person who lets you use a room in exchange for help.
Run a storage unit in exchange for an on site apartment. Run an apartment complex in exchange for an onsite apartment. |

Live with a family free in exchange for chores, yard work, childcare, grocery shopping, food prep, etc?

Re: Ideas for a college student to live cheaply.
I rented a room from an instructor at the university. She posted it on the housing board. This was back when a housing board was an actual bulletin board. Her oldest had gone off to college and she rented out her room to help pay her daugther's expenses. It worked out ok. I only did it for one semester, though. I was able to share an apartment with some other students for about the same amount of money so I moved out when I found that.

I know you already ruled out dorm living, but just in case...becoming an RA (resident assistant) is a time-honored way to get a dorm room for free. Might include meals.
