six jars of jam
I just made my first strawberry jam, my first caned any thing of any sort.
I am very proud of my self :sillygrin This morning I went and picked strawberries and this evening some of them (I didn't seam to make a dent in the amount of strawberries I have) are sitting on my counter in jam jars. I just needed to share the excitement. It wasn't hard at all, this will definitely be a summer of canning any thing I can. |

Re: six jars of jam
I used this recipe: http://www. freshpreserving.com/pages/all_recipes/215.php?recipe=47&recipID=220
and followed these directions: http://www. freshpreserving.com/pages/step_by_step_high_acid_foods/34.php I was really surprised by how easy it was. Two years ago I brought some jars and a presser cooker out from my parents houses and they have all been sitting around till I could get up enough nerve to do some thing with them. Now I feel like I am up to trying any thing. I think next week I may can some of my pasta sauce with meat balls in the presser cooker. I have a feeling that my sewing time is going to decrease as the time I spend canning increases. |
