Re: Homemade electrolyte rocks!

I dont know why the recipe used baking soda :shrug maybe because its easier to measure in smaller mg ?

I play with the recipe though. I used it as a starting point.
I stick with coconut water and sea salt mainly.

Its been a while but if I remember right, the recipe was originally posted as a natural alternative to rehydrate. Not an energy drink. Just more of a way to stay hydrated when one is sick.
I did the second long post when someone asked about using it while excersising.
:)

How do you make coconut water, or is it just coconut milk?

Coconut water is the clear liquid inside the coconut.
Coconut milk is the water/pulp. Neither are sweet unless sweetner is added.:)

Gotcha. :) I don't do soft drinks or alcohol and I am not fond of juice, so I am always looking for something interesting to drink. :)

Coconut water is very subtle tasting, Its delicious with natural sweetning or even plain but I can only do that if its super chilled. Not sure why but that's just my taste buds.

Coconut milk, I have to add to things to it, the texture is thick and a bit to much of a roasted flavor for me, not sure if that's a good description of the taste.

LOL - yeah the homemade electrolyte is from the book Naturally Healthy Babies and Children by Aviva Jill Romm and it's meant for an ill person. It's an amazing book.

I sooo understand you Me on the taste of coconut water. My dominican card might be revoked considering in DR you can't walk without hitting a guy with a cart full of chilled green coconuts ready to hack an opening into them and slip in a straw. I just cannot for the life of me like the taste of coconut water. Coconut milk I love because I use it in plenty of sweet things but blegh, coconut water is weird on my tongue.

I've tested it enough to add calcium bentonite clay to my mix.
Every time I add it we stopped vomiting/diareah instantly. Last night was the first time I had 3 sick kids and an infant. So nice to be up all night dealing with fevers and crying without the clean up factor.whew!
