Ring Slings
I'm thinking ahead and researching for future baby #2, and I would really like a ring sling for next time around. I've seen the maya wrap mentioned here, and I'm just wondering if there are any other brands anyone here loves, so I know what all my options are. I would like one I could nurse in easily.
Any recommendations? |
Re: Ring Slings
I love Sleeping Baby Productions. :)

Re: Ring Slings
So far I only have maya wraps. I have the original which is not padded which I prefer. I also have a padded but only got that one after DD really started to get heavy since I tend to mostly use my ring sling and will wear her for hours at a time in it.
Curious to see what everyone else says. I've got my eye on a new one, a storchenwiege, but so far no one has bought it off of my wish list. |
Re: Ring Slings
I have a Maya wrap which I love, but I've heard if you're handy you can make one yourself really easily.

Re: Ring Slings
I prefer the "floating ring" shoulder regardless of brand.

Re: Ring Slings
another from Sleeping baby productions but I am a DIYer at heart. LOL.

Re: Ring Slings
Yup, I'm a DIY-er for ring slings too. I use the Ultimate Upmama gathered shoulder, which is a floating shoulder gathered with elastic across the back. :heart it!
And because I do it myself, I made a gorgeous dupioni silk sling with an amazing panel of japanese quilting fabric to decorate the tail. Yum. I wish I still wore those colours. ;) For newbie, I plan to make a new ring sling in colours I wear now. Preferably double-layer silk. Hmm, must start saving up. And while I hemmed the previous one while in labour, I think I'd prefer to have this one done ahead of time... :think |
Re: Ring Slings
I bought mine from Rockin' Baby Slings.

Re: Ring Slings
Really love Beth at BabyEtte.net (or Etsy). Reasonable prices, great selection an she's just fabulous to work with. Her gauze or cotton slings are lifesavers if you live in the South.

Re: Ring Slings
I have a heart to heart ring sling, but I find the padded shoulder much too bulky.
I thought the padding would make carrying pip easier, but it just cuts into my neck - I'm actually on the lookout for a Maya wrap because I've heard such good things about them. :) Peace, -Earthmamma |

Is it possible for you to try out different styles somewhere? (like a LLL or babywearing meeting?) Depending on your shoulder size/shape, you might find one type of sling preferable to another. I know a lot of mamas who love a gathered shoulder, but for me that feels too big and overwhelming. :shrug3 AFA nursing in a sling, any open-tailed sling w/ unpadded rails would work well. You basically want something that can be infinitely adjusted easily. |
Re: Ring Slings
I was happy with my SlingEZee. :)

Re: Ring Slings
I also have a SlingEZee - it has been through 3 kids now and is still holding up well :)

Re: Ring Slings
I have a Hava sling that I really like, which is similar to the SlingEZee.
