My freezer jam did not set right.

I have no idea why but it is runny. I tried to reboil the whole thing when it was thin and runny but I do not think it helped. Oh well Jessica will still like it at least.

Mine was runny at first, too, but when I put it in the fridge it set right up. Have you tried refrigerating it or freezing it and then defrosting it yet?

Good luck...I've got my second batch of the season halfway complete in the kitchen right now...just waiting for DD to go to bed so I can finish! :D

Did you use enough pectin?

I don't boil my freezer jam. I smoosh up the fruit add the pectin, sugar and about 1/4 cup of water per cup of fruit mix it and toss it in the freezer.

You can also add a bit of plain gelatin to the mix.

:nak2 should have said my recipe calls for both pectin and gelatin... and it still didn't set until i refrigerated it.

We call that ice cream topping around here :giggle Hope it sets for you eventually, but if it doesn't I'm sure it's still yummy!

Perhaps I panicked too soon. It was thicker in the freezer but I figured it was just freezing. It was still warm but I thought it thickened as it cooled. I usually do not boil mine either but I remember the last batch being much thicker as it cooled to room temp so I thought perhaps I did not let it boil enough.
