So far I have done bean soup and beef stew.

I will neaver go back to stew in a crock pot. if I had every thing already choped the ster would haVe taken less than 30 min.

The bean soup was compribal to what I do on the stove top it just took a lot less time. 20p min from start (Ihade kinda soaked the beans, only a couple of hours) to sitting down to eat.

Joining this new thread from the old one from 2011.

I love to talk about PCing! I've had mine about 10 years and use it a lot, especially this time of year.

It beats the heck out of using a crock pot!

I have some favorite things I make in mine and a couple of cookbooks I like a lot (and believe it or not, I don't own any by Lorna Sass, who is sort of the queen of PCing).

So many people say they are afraid of PCs, but that's because in our grandmothers' days, they would sometimes blow up in the kitchen. The newer PCs have safety valves that prevent that from happening.

So, here's my shameful admission about my PC, though. Ready? I don't use it to can. Because I'm afraid to can. My PC CAN can (it can do the can-can!), but I'm seriously afraid of glass jars and seals and water baths and all that jazz. So, in that respect, I am a bit of a PC failure. Maybe someday...

I'm getting on :dance . DH told me to buy it "for Christmas". It's an electric one and I'm excited to learn how to use one!

I might be getting one in the next few months. I really want one. I want to can my bone broth so I can stop wasting plastic baggies. Last time, I tried freezing in glass. Big mistake! The idea of being able to use dried beans so much faster is really appealing too.

I was gifted a presto canner/cooker for the holidays. I am excited but nervous about using it for the reasons of old mentioned, lol. Do they rock around a lot or make a lot of noise? I know they have safety valves and stuff now but I just want to be prepared :O

My new pressuer cooker doesn't rock around or hiss or drip water. my old pressur canner does all of those things and is a bit scarry. last night early bird was sitting on the counter watchin g the cooker the whole time I was making stew lastnight. I would not let her do that witgh the canner I inhearited.

I would like to try some bean soup or maybe baked beans after the holidays die down. I am growing in confidence. :giggle Thanks for this thread.

You can keep soaking beans in the fridge for up to a week. throw some in the fridge and then whenever you need a fast dinner throw them in the prusser cooker on high prfusser for 10 min at prusser and use natural release. I bet you could fit one fast dinner some time before Christmas.
