Re: What happened to Laine's Letters?
Laines' Letters are punitive :(, and physically so. Just thought I should add that in for anyone who is following along.

That's sad because she always seems to be so *gentle* and kind that the thought of her being punitive never even crossed my mind :( |
Re: What happened to Laine's Letters?
That's too bad. I've been on her email list since at least 2009 (I just looked back through saved emails) and I've never seen anything punitive or dealing with corporal punishment. Almost all of her emails were about her relationship with the Lord or home management. I know she wrote about her new grandbabies and that she adopted a daughter in recent years, but I never read anything that she wrote that was punitive.
I guess the good news is that it doesn't seem like it has been a focus in the past few years. I just re-skimmed the emails that I have saved, and didn't see any mentions. Either way, I've really been blessed by her ministry. :heart |
Re: What happened to Laine's Letters?
I used to get her emails too but then I read one that was very, very heavy WOS that struck me as really icky. I think I remember a punitive one as well. But I'm glad her articles are available so you can pick the good ones and leave the icky ones behind. :tu

Re: What happened to Laine's Letters?
That's a bummer. :sad2
We have a sticky with a lot of links to Laine's Letters, and I'm sure that PurpleButterfly wouldn't knowingly include anyone who violated the Statement of Beliefs, so maybe she didn't archive much of the more controversial stuff? Now I wish her site was up even more, so I could go search for punitive stuff. :shifty |
Re: What happened to Laine's Letters?
It's in the letters linked to in this thread. The the first one I pulled up actually, about toddlers. Tapping fingers and a "Fanny Whacker".
I had read these when I first joined GCM and saw the links and really enjoyed them, but I did remember the punitive ones . . . I didn't notice nearly as much then because I wasn't as sensitive to it back then I guess. So when I saw this thread I looked for it . I'm going to do some more reading today and find the parts I had enjoyed when I first read them :yes |
Re: What happened to Laine's Letters?
Subbing, bc I too have really benefitted from Laine's letters. I am saddened to hear about the punitive stuff.

"fanny whacker"
"while employing the fanny whacker swiftly to their bottom" "I wanted them to "feel the sting" of discipline which was doing its work to cause them to obey me and to feel the separation from me due to their disobedience" :sick :cry |
