Do you grind your own grain?

What kind of mill do you have and do you like it?

I do, I have a wondermill and so far no complaints. I've been using it for a few months now. Sometimes I don't like the extra grittiness compared to bagged flour but I'm reluctant to use it on the pastry setting all the time. I'm grinding rice though I don't know about wheat.

We do :) We have for many years (at least 7 or 8), and are spoiled by the taste of freshly-milled grains. We have a Ktec Kitchen Mill. It has held up very well through all of the years of use.

I have a wondermill. It's worked well for 7 years. :)

I have a NutriMill and really, really love it. Fairly quiet, very reliable (I've only used it for wheat), and I'm fairly sure it's paid for itself by now -I've had it over three years, and used it for our bread/baking flour and for making bread and baked goods to sell at farmer's market. I bought it through Pleasant Hill Grain at the same time as I ordered my Bosch Mixer and got a deal on both (tax refund purchase :shifty -money very well spent :) ).

I have a nutrimill. No complaints, and I love the lifetime warranty. It is big, but I suppose they all are. It's way quieter than mil's whisper mill. :giggle

I have a Little Ark. It was my dad's. :heart He bought it in the 1970s and it's still going strong. It can be operated by motor, by hand, or hooked up to an exercise bike.

We have a nutrimill but I also want to get a hand powered one someday as a back-up in power loss situations. I :heart our nutrimill, and think it is a great one to start with. We chose the nutrimill because you don't have to assemble it each time you use it and because you can stop and start while the grain is in the hopper. With kids helping, I didn't want to clog the mill if they started or stopped at a weird time. The wondermill must be on before you put in the grain, and cannot be turned off until the grain has completely run through. The wondermill does do better at making coarser grinds if you need that for cornmeal or something, which may be a factor for you. I haven't looked at any other mills really so can't compare those. We have had ours for nearly 3 years. It plus our electrolux mixer have places of honor in our kitchen. :shifty

I hear you!

The Little Ark can be started & stopped and adjusted to the desired coarseness.
