"Why We Didn't Have a Naughty Step" by Ems Hancock
I stumbled across this blog and it's a great refresher on the purpose of discipline. Very encouraging.
I don't think I've heard of the author she mentions, Danny Silk. Has anyone read that book? http://www.emshancock.com/one-small-...-naughty-step/ |

We were often sent to sit on the stairs as punishment. I thought it was quite silly. As an INTJ and DYT type 4, I thrive when given a chance to be alone in my own head. And as I got older I just grabbed a book from my room. :shrug3 There was rarely follow up from my parents (and if there was, it was just a lecture, not a conversation). Certainly nothing about the situation helped our relationship or taught me anything positive :no
I don't think I've heard of that book or author. :think Sounds good though. |

There is no place for comments on her blog. I wanted to comment!
She's basically encouraging what GCM calls a comfort corner which can be used for alone time for kids that prefer to be alone to de-escalate themselves. |

I've never gotten around to setting up an official comfort corner :shifty but this blog does serve as a good reminder, in whatever way you do it, to maintain that connection and relationship with your child. I'm sure an actual physical place would help with that reminder, though :sigh

We don't have an official spot either and never have.

I've read several other really positive reviews of Danny Silk's book. I'm going to see if my library has it.
