electronic pest repellers!
 

We got some of these for Christmas... the kind you plug in. It says they use ultrasonic waves. You cannot have pet hamsters, mice etc... if you have these. It would kill them by disrupting their nervous system.

So this all makes me think these are not something I want in my house!?? Especially being pregnant. I told DH to just put them in the garage.

Anyone know much about these?

My understanding is that they make some sort of noise that we humans can't hear but drives other critters crazy and deters them from entering/residing in your house. I didn't think it had to do with interfering with the nervous systems or anything. :scratch

We had them and didn't notice any difference in the number of spiders in our house. But then, we live in an old-old house that doesn't have wiring going all around it, so that may have made it not work very well.

Dh's parents say they seem to work for them. :shrug

Don't know about them being detrimental to our health--- :shrug

we have them, and my understanding is it's the noise thing...no weird vibes, but i haven't researched it myself (and i'm pg). just to warn you, right after we plugged ours in, apparently a varmint got stuck on his way out and died in the wall :sick so we had a NASTY smell for a few weeks, then it went away. i have noticed less scratching in teh wall since we've had it.

Wow, I had no idea that those killed pests. We were thinking of buying some.

All I know is that they work well for mice.

A friend of ours is a pastor on the Apache reservation in AZ....the parsonage was full of rodents....those electronic devices really helped with their mouse problem...

they aren't supposed to KILL the pests, just make an annoying sound that makes them want to flee. in our case, one somehow either freaked out or got trapped in his escape :shifty

We had one and it didn't work. It was some cheapie kind, so maybe that is why? :shrug Thankfully our got is a great mouser and works better than anything.

All I know is they do not work on centipedes. :sick

Thank you! We don't even really have a pest problem.... so I wonder if they are worth even putting up?

I don't think I can sleep in a room w/ something pluged in that I know wrecks the nervous of small animals, just gives me an icky feeling.
