Tamales--how do you serve them?

Tonight we are having tamales. (No, I didn't make them...but my buddy Trader Joe did!) How do you like to serve them best? With or without a sauce on top? Alongside eggs, salad, salsa???

We usually serve it with rice and salsa and if you can get ahold of it, horchata. Usualy I don't put anything on top, as not everyone likes toppings.

I wish I had thought of making horchata this morning! DD would love it!

We serve them plain, and all ad our own toppings. We do rice/beans along side. Sometimes fidello.

Sauce for DH and no sauce for kids, salad, black beans, rice and corn on the side. Sauce with avocado on my green corn tamale.:P~

:hissyfit

My steamer basket fell down into the water...making tamale soup!!! I can't believe it...we still ate them, but they weren't very good. I had to cover (douse) mine with salsa just so it had flavor.

I have so been on a strike-out with cooking this week.

Last night I sauteed the last of the fresh garden spinach--and forgot I salted it, so I did it twice. :hissyfit
