What Could This Be?
 

(Not sure where this should go, so please moves as needed!)

Just wondering if anyone has a good guess about this???

Oldest DS (8) has been complaining for almost 3 weeks about a pain in his "leg". It is just one side right along where his underwear cuts across his leg. (Like at the bikini line, although I doubt boys call it that.) :doh

I took him to the dr. for allergies and mentioned it in passing to the dr who checked it out. It is sore to the touch, but only seems to bother him periodically throughout the day. Doesn't seem to be "selective" - he may wince when he is having fun or engrossed in something, so I don't *think* he is faking. The dr ran basic bloodwork, and that came back normal. His white counts were a little bit low,, which the dr said can be a sign of a virus.

DH and I are wondering if it could be a pulled muscle, and if so how long it should be sore. He doesn't have any visible lumps. We are baffled, and not sure how long to give it before we take him back to the dr. :scratch

Any thoughts?

a cyst or polyp could cause a lower white cell count.
Both can cause sensitivity depending on location. And neither are serious.
Or could be a pulled ligament. That hurts.
One other thing comes to mind. A Hernia.

Have HIM lay down & feel everywhere & see if he can find ANYTHING lump-ish. & either way, see if he can locate the exact area so you have more to go on.

I'd make another appointment for it at this point. Going on this long and obviously a lot of pain. It seems like more than just a pulled muscle. Not that it's anything *bad*, but it still might be time to be looked at more in depth. :hugheart

If those groin muscles get pulled or sprained they can take a good while to stop being tender.My dd had 2 - one on each side that she got from trying to kind of shimmy with both legs(if you can picture it) up the sides of one of those luggage carts in a hotel room.Next day she could barely walk & it took a good while to completely heal because when it would start getting better she would get more active and kind of restrain it.You might try things like Epsom salt baths and that kind of things as well as checking for hernias or swollen nodes etc.

You might have better luck with a chiropractor.
