Naps

What do you all do for naps? I'm having a hard time getting my co sleeping baby to sleep well without me during the day.

Re: Naps

No great tips. We use an Ergo often and I can sometimes put the sleeping baby onto a bed if I leave the Ergo all around him, somewhat tricking him into thinking I'm still right there. (Not just DS, but also 2 girls and a boy I've nannied for...)

When DS was very small, swing worked often if I put him in without stopping the motion of my body--rather transitioning to match the motion of the swing before placing him in.

Are you nursing? I found that BF babies sleep waaaaay less and shorter in my care than their FF counterparts I've cared for in the past.

But maybe I'm not the best one to answer since I'm back in our shared bed nursing DS to sleep for the 3rd time in 90 minutes ;)

Re: Naps

You probably don't want to hear about naps here. :shifty Let's just say we're a few days away from 15 months of every single nap at least starting in the Ergo/Boba/etc. I think maybe 10 times in his life I have been able to get him out and transfer him to the bed without him waking up. I'm slowly going crazy. But yes, a nap in a carrier always works for us. He will not fall asleep any other way, though I hear that most babies are not like this. :crazy

Re: Naps

Mine have done well with me walking with them to sleep either in arms or in the boba then taking them out, laying them down and nursing them the rest of the way back to sleep. I can often slip away depending on their age. Prior to a year old, mine pretty much only slept about forty minutes at a time. I'd either have to nurse them back down or they'd take 2-3 naps a day instead of just 2.

Re: Naps

Mine would nap at the end of tummy time if his big sister didn't come kiss him so much :doh Belly sleeping helps for naps, I just try to be noisy and check on them a lot.

J is totally "spoiled" since I've had mastitis and had him constantly by my side for almost a week straight. Before that he'd drift off on his own. I think if you start putting them down young they can get into that habit- if their temperament is right.
