And it was super easy and my kids love it- just wanted to share

For the older kids who know their states already, it's fun to time them and see how fast they can do it and if they can improve on their time.

Awesome - I am totally doing this :rockon. Like soon. . . maybe tonight :think and I'm using a file folder as the base so I can fold it

I need to help my older kids who forget where some states are and me - some of the states I forget unless I really use elimination :shifty

What's your plan for getting the toothpicks to stay up with a file folder instead of the foam board? Folding would be great!

I figured she meant gluing the foam board to the file folder, but I could be wrong.

I'm either gluing foam board to file folder or using corrugated cardboard. I hadn't decided :think

I realized my dollar store has display boards that could be cut down to this so I'd not have to glue anything but my maps :think . Then I'd just need to buy better toothpicks and assemble ;) I already printed my maps.

I bought colored toothpicks and colored by region to make it slightly easier. Just an option.

I poked the holes where the capitals are and dd1 made a set of capital flags, too, for a harder challenge.

Got mine all done and starting today :rockon

I ended up using report boards as planned and found sturdy picks at the dollar store. I forgot about the region trick but I also put answers ona file folder and made a second empty folded cardboard to keep my table from being scratched.

Dh and I are also going to participate. I forget some of the eastern states and sometimes have to count states from WI to recognize them :giggle

I may do capitols at some point but haven’t gotten there. Too lazy to make my own templates ;)

Awesome! I just used my label maker for capital flags. Don’t know if you have one but it was super easy.
