Almond flour
 

What is the deal with almond flour and phytates? Is there such thing as almond flour made from sprouted or soaked nuts? (Available, for purchase, that is. I know I could probably make it myself.)

I don't know of one. That's why I try to use my soaked almonds as much as possible. But we go through so much AF, I just can't keep up, so I buy the Bob's Red Mill stuff. :shrug

Same with a vitamix, if you have one. It's the soaking and drying of the almonds that takes up the time. :yes

My homemade almond flour never turns out as well as the store bought stuff, even in my vitamix. And since blanched almonds are way more expensive, I just buy the blanched almond flour at the farmer's market for $4.99/lb, but I've heard Trader Joes now has BLANCHED almond meal/flour for $2.99/lb!

all of ours is blanched, so no reason to worry over phytates.

I'll have to check next time I go shopping. :think I buy Trader Joe's almond meal, but I don't think it's blanched. The kind I buy is $3.99 a lb, and I find that it works well for what I need.

I'd buy it for that price too! Almond flour here is $11.99/lb. :snooty
