I posted a review on my site of Samuel Martin's book Thy Rod and Thy Staff They Comfort Me: Christians and the Spanking Controversy: http://www.positivelyfeminine.org/li.../bk/martin.htm . (I'm giving away a free copy, too.)

The book has been a huge revelation to my husband and me. We were very pro-GBD, didn't spank, etc. before, but his examination of the rod verses has given us a firm foundation on which to base all those beliefs. I also feel better equipped to defend them in the face of pro-spanking arguments. :rockon

It is a fantastic book! :rockon. I think that anyone who reads it would be convinced that the Bible does not teach spanking. Samuel Martin has written lots of articles as well and is working on more books. :)

I agree! It's a great book. I read it a couple of years ago. It's scholarly and takes a little time to get through, but there is so.much.information. He lives in Israel and has access to rabbinic writings that we in the Christian West have never seen.
