if all the kids were told to clean up, but only one actually cleaned up - did it all by herself.

is it okay to reward the one that cleaned up?

Its a little different, but my son cleaned his room and my daughters room the other day. To thank him, I told him that I'd clean his room the next time it needs it. I just told him that I wanted to do something nice for him since he did something nice for his sisters. :)

I realize that the circumstances were a bit different though.

We just had this situation today. Bear was the only one who cleaned up. We are surprising her with a night of mommy & daughter fishing. She really went above and beyond what I asked for as well. :heart

i needed something more immediately gratifying.

ooh. i could have let her pick out the movie they watched. not a huge thing, i know, but it would have made somewhat of a point. but then, they all still got to watch it so maybe that doesn't make the point well enough.

You could let her pick the movie and be the one in charge of the remote, since she's shown herself to be so responsible. :) If it want more emphasis, you could let it be known that she'll have a little extra treat along with the popcorn, like a few candies sprinkled on top. :shrug3

I offer a hearty thanks and I think that offering more rights in exchange for more responsibility is its own reward. That's the deal I have with all my children.
