I don’t like my wall art/hanging decor
I have too much “word art” stuff and not enough pictures. But the problem is that I also don’t see anything I like in stores these days. The pictures look like too much like framed posters or the themes are wrong. I’m not into farm stuff or the other current themes. I don’t have time to make art to hang up. I used to love the stuff Hobby Lobby had. Not right now. I seem to be stuck. Ideas? Sites to visit?

What do you like? Realistic painting or impressionist or photography? Flowers? Abstract? Landscapes? People? Animals? My daughter is really good at painting in acrylics as long as she has something to copy. Maybe you could commission something from a local art student. My daughter would love to sell commissioned paintings!

Re: I don’t like my wall art/hanging decor
I've been working on replacing my Bed, Bath and Beyond type art with original pieces. It's ongoing and can't be rushed, but eventually I should have a house full of beautiful pieces that have good meaning or memories attached.
Sometimes I buy student art from my local university. For the last few years they have been having print sales about twice a year to raise funds for the BFA year end grad show. I've also been pushing myself to hang some of my own art. I'm an art teacher, but I often enjoy the process of art-making over the finished product. Now I'm pushing myself to make pieces that I'm proud to hang. |
