Are there any super smart math people here?
:giggle
I'm struggling with my pre-calculus homework and could really use some help if anyone has time or could possibly help me! |
Re: Are there any super smart math people here?
I'm not super smart, but I used to tutor algebra.

I attached a picture of the problem I'm working on. If you can help I would greatly appreciate it :)https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1025aa40ef.jpg Sent from my XT1710-02 using Tapatalk |
Re: Are there any super smart math people here?
Where did line 2 come from?
I tutored algebra, not calculus. I don't really remember much of calculus. Sent from my Moto E (4) using Tapatalk |
Re: Are there any super smart math people here?
I just expanded cos(a+b)

Re: Are there any super smart math people here?
I think it can be simplified to cosa/sina-sinb/cosb and then further to tangent of a - (1/tangent)b. I think it might be zero because the tangent of a is the same as 1/tangent of b. Please let us know- now I want to know if I'm remembering that right.

Did you finish it yet? I love trigonometry.
Is the idea to simplify the left side of the equation? |

Re: Are there any super smart math people here?
So I know the goal, sine squared plus cosine squared. Every trigonometric identity comes from that one. I had to prove it when I took trigonometry. Since the right side is 1, we know the left is going to be some form of sine squared plus cosine squared. Let me see if I can work it out on paper a bit.

So maybe a=b is the answer. :shrug I'm so glad this class is over on Friday!!! :giggle Sent from my XT1710-02 using Tapatalk |

What is actually super frustrating to me is this problem looks incredibly familiar to me, and I feel like I have answered it before. Haha. It would have been years ago so I can't remember exactly. |
Re: Are there any super smart math people here?
All the rest of the problems I was able to find online. It makes me wonder if he typed it wrong on the worksheet.

flashbacks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm running for my life! Come back with the answer, okay?! |
Re: Are there any super smart math people here?
I watched khan academy A LOT during my studies. Which had only an element of math.
Maybe there is something there you could watch? |
