This stuff is so awesome!

I found organic fresh horseradish roots at our local Outpost.

And DH and I think it tastes kinda good! :lol

I take a tablespoon whenever I feel a cough or cold coming on--and I feel better very soon!

I've given it to both kids, too. They don't necessarily like it, but they'll take it.

Simon had a rash that wasn't going away and I dabbed it on--it's drying right up. :tu

Hey Lisa, when did you get the horseradish? I wonder if they still have some -- that was where I went when I said "the co-op" although I went to my outpost :think although, I still have almost a gallon of this stuff on hand. . . no one has gotten sick since I made my last gallon :giggle so it may be overkill to go buy some :think

I am thinking of growing horseradish if I can find a start to plant :think

This sounds like the Fire Cider I made last fall:
Quote:

Fire Cider

It takes six weeks to 'brew' so if you find there's not quite enough time before Gift-Giving, you may want to make it in one-pint jars labeled with the date when it WILL be ready and instructions for 'decanting', and give it just like that.

For each one-pint jar, you need:
1/4cup grated horseradish
(that will clear your sinuses just in the GRATING!! );
1/4cup grated ginger root;
1/8cup finely chopped garlic;
1/2cup finely chopped onion;
and a pinch of cayenne.

Now. All the 'gratings' go into a pint glass jar, fill the jar with apple cider vinegar, put the lid on, label it, and just WAIT for six weeks. After the magic date, strain out all the gratings (I swear, one friend took the gratings and smeared them on bread and ate them!)
Like I said, some folks take a teaspoonful as medicine when they have the snoots, some folks love it so much they throw it all over their salads, and one friend made it her 'nightcap', sipping a tiny shot glassful before bed.....I would imagine splashing some in soup would be something else.....
Herbwife's version of master tonic, I guess.. :)

Dh put 1 tsp. Into his neti pot solution. He said it hurt something fierce but the next day an unbelievable amount of gunk came out.

I have everything I need to make some except for horseradish. I didn't find it at trader joe's today or at our local co-op. I have seen it at walmart tho, so I'm gonna head there prolly on Monday. :)

Oh my goodness! That sounds absolutely wicked (and not in a good way wicked)!

I think the stuff smells great! My husband thinks it would be good for cooking. My children say it burns. My belly tells me to take it after the baby is born, not right now (we are dealing a bit with reflux...)
I hope it works!
