Re: Canning and glass top
Yeah, but I can't afford that.
Not only that but I have a brand new canner I cannot ever use. A wasted birthday gift that I won't be able to even get $20 for on craigslist. I'm just angry and sad because I wanted to do this so badly and now I'll have to wait. |
Do you have a church or a Granny or a sweet neighbor?

Go use someone else's stove. And, tell DH you can't take kids there.

Re: Canning and glass top
My mom has 2 kitchens. I've considered asking her.
But, its like.... I like my own kitchen, my own environment. KWIM? I just feel let down. pickyourown.com suggests coleman stoves. I've seen some online for $25 used. I might give that a whirl. |
Re: Canning and glass top
I'm planning to do my canning at my mom's house this year because she has a gas stove. I'm thinking it will be worth the effort of going over there, just because I'll be able to use her stove so much more efficiently than at home. And it won't heat up my house!

Go to your mom sans kids with a big bottle of cupcake vodka or brownies if that is innapropriate and can something. :)

I don't can (yet) but l hate my glass cooktop. It looks pretty but is horrible for the serious cook. I miss my gas range. :pout

Re: Canning and glass top
It is a pressure canner.
I bet you can find a little hot plate at a hardware store. That should be plenty for a water bath. |

Someday, but not now. I think I will bribe my mom. She isn't a canned goods person, but I could pay her in wine and treats. |
