Non-coffee alternatives
Last fall I gave up coffee & caffeine for health reasons. I started drinking roasted chicory & barley as a substitute. I enjoyed it a lot, however it has gluten and caused different issues. I have since gone back to decaf but have found that it causes b.o. :shifty. I'd love to find another alternative. I just enjoy my hot coffee in the morning.

Have you ever tried roasted dandelion tea? It’s caffeine free and reminds me of coffee.

This is on my list to try. https://www.amazon.com/COFFIG-Ground...71&sr=8-5&th=1
I use this. It does have some caffeine in it, though. "Crio Bru is 99.9% caffeine free with 10-15mg caffeine- about as much as decaf coffee. No. Crio contains a natural stimulant from the cacao bean called theobromine and it is not addictive. Brewed cacao is near to pH Neutral (6.4 - 6.8) and is significantly less acidic than coffee." https://www.amazon.com/Crio-Bru-Subs...8-2-spons&th=1 |

Celestial Seasonings apple cinnamon is my favorite hot drink.
Is pero gluten free? |
Re: Non-coffee alternatives
My daughter bought me some Apple Cider a month ago and then she heated it up and added just a touch of cinnamon. It was really comforting.

Teeccino- it comes in all sorts of different flavors, can be brewed like tea (in bags) or like coffee (grounds in a pot). There are certified GF varieties. It's pretty tasty.
I drink Roma and Pero occasionally, too but I think they are both made from barley. :think (Roma is for sure; I just checked. I don't have any Pero in the pantry.) There's another brand at my local Whole Foods, but I can't remember off hand what it is. It might be GF. Is chicory gluten-free? Because straight chicory is available on Amazon. Tea just doesn't do it for me when I want coffee. :no |
Re: Non-coffee alternatives
Are you trying to avoid caffeine?
Oolong tea has an almost coffee flavor. I don't think I've ever seen decaf oolong, though, but I haven't looked for it, either. Another vote for rooibos! I drink tons of green and black tea. But I also love chamomile, rooibos, jasmine, and especially tulsi/holy basil. |
Re: Non-coffee alternatives
This thread is blasphemy.
But oolong whole leaf tea comes in many flavors and is wonderful with some good honey. |

I'm not a huge fan of tea for the most part. The best I've found, and it doesn't always do it for me, is decaf Chocolate Hazelnut Black Tea. I think it's from Stash. |
