Need help -Cake decorating links? tutorials?
The girls are working on a cake decorating badge for their girls' club, and I'm on the lookout for online (preferably free, of course :shifty) resources to learn some new tricks myself. We are armed with a good Wilton starter kit (bags, basic tips, a spatula, and a good range of icing colors) and some wild ideas :lol. I'm a novice myself --have only the few cakes I've done before (simply decorated -borders, writing, ...not ventured into rose-making yet...) and watching my boss at Baskin-Robbins (in high school, long ago) do magic with decorating ice cream cakes.
Specifically, if you can point me to a good place that shows (with video? or even a good description would do) how to: -hold the decorating bag and make simple things like drop flowers, leaves, stars, shell borders -make and use fondant --heard it's fairly easy if you use the marshmallow stuff, but I've never tried it. Sounds like fun, though :). :help thanks! Off to search youtube :grin! |

I've used this....

Re: Need help -Cake decorating links? tutorials?
Actually, the wilton website has a lot of tutorials online
http://www.wilton.com/decorating/decorating-basics/ Then down in the Decorating with Buttercream section, you can find a link to: http://www.wilton.com/tag/easy%20but...am%20technique Do they get bonus points for knowing that Wilton's "buttercream" bears really *no* resemblance to european bakeries' version of buttercream? :yum |
