View Full Version : My secret sauce

Ok, it's not exactly a secret, but it's a great cooking sauce, easy, tasty and cheap. Both of my sons had their wives ask me what sauce I use to cook chicken and I was happy to tell them.

All it is a mix of ketchup, mustard and Worcestershire sauce. The proportions don't matter, you make it to taste. Use more ketchup if you like a sweeter sauce. Then add some chicken bullion powder, like Knorr (https://s.yimg.com/lo/api/res/1.2/q5JILmIwFhTipuTFqiVarw--~B/YXBwaWQ9eWlzZWFyY2g7Zmk9Zml0O2dlPTAwNjYwMDtncz0wME EzMDA7aD00MDA7dz00MDA-/http://www.thegrocerygirls.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/7/F/7FRK1.jpg.jpg.cf.jpg) or salt.

One DIL mixes it in a bowl and pours it over chicken thighs and bakes them. The other DIL puts her chicken in a crock pot bag, squirts in the sauces and mixes in the bag before putting it in the crockpot. I put the chicken in a saucepan, add the Knorr, squirt the ketchup, mustard and Worcestershire sauce and mix it as I cook. It doesn't matter. And as I don't measure proportions, it's never the same twice. :giggle

Boullion and use salt?

I love new and easy and it sounds tasty!!! :yumI'm sure salt is fine. I've also used soy sauce instead of the bullion and Worcestershire sauce.

It's in the crock pot. I had some super thick homemade ketchup to use up. Kids said it smells good.

Took about an hour in the crock pot. Sauce stayed thick. Everyone liked. It was pretty much bbq chicken for us.
